Asian International School clinch Junior Boys Indoor Rowing Title

COLOMBO, Feb 3 (ePRESS) – Asian International School (AIS), the pioneer international school in rowing in Sri Lanka, won yet another major title by clinching the Junior Boys’ Championship at the National Indoor Rowing Championship 2026, organised by the Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka and held at the Rowing Headquarters in Diyawanna, Battaramulla recently.

AIS produced a strong and balanced performance across all junior age categories, showing power, endurance and technical control on the rowing machines. Their athletes dominated individual races and added valuable points through relay events to secure the overall Junior Boys’ crown.

In relay events, AIS maintained their high standard. The Boys Under-14 Relay team of Ruveen Peiris, Dhian Panduwawala, Aniq Ahamat, Nemindu Jayasundera, won the bronze medal after a close contest.

The Boys Under-16 Relay team of Sonal Tranchell, Shayden Gunaratna. Dhian Panduwawala and Joel Weerasingham earned the silver medal with a well-coordinated effort.

The Boys Under-19 Relay team of Venuk Panduwawala, Shivanedra Goonewardane, Avishka Wijegunaratne and Sonal Tranchell also finished with the silver medal, showing strong teamwork and race control.

With gold medals in four individual categories and podium finishes in all relay races, Asian International School emerged as the Junior Boys’ overall champions of the championship.
