Asian International School’s Jevahn Sathasivam wins SL Junior Open Golf C’ship

COLOMBO, Dec 23, Sat: Jevahn Sathasivam and Kaya Daluwatte emerged as champions at the 15th PRIMA Sunrise Bread Sri Lanka Junior Open Amateur Golf Championship conducted by Sri Lanka Golf and Junior Sub Committee, concluded at the Royal Colombo Golf Club on Friday.

Sathasivam, a student at Asian International School, showed impressive mental toughness and golfing finesse to secure the boys’ title in the Gold Division (age 15-19+). Leading throughout the three days, he overcame tough competition from Yannik Kumara, Reshan Algama, and Jacob Norton to clinch victory with a final day score of 70 and an aggregate of 210.

On the girls’ side, Kaya Daluwatte continued her winning streak, securing her third consecutive title with a final day gross score of 75. Yannik Kumara held onto his second position throughout the tournament, while Reshan Algama displayed exceptional golf to secure the third spot with an aggregate gross score of 221.

In the girls’ division, Sherine Balasooriya’s improved performance on the third day secured her second position, with Aaliyah Laiza Achary claiming the third spot.

Adhithya Weerasinghe claimed the Silver Division winner’s prize with a score of 80, with Keshav Algama and Kaiyen Johnpillai securing second and third place, respectively.

Keya Abhayaratne dominated the girls’ Silver Division, claiming the first place with an aggregate gross score of 291.

In the Bronze Division, Lavidu Premaratne impressed with a gross score of 65 and an aggregate of 184, beating Udeera Bandara by a clear margin of 18 shots. Yehansa Senanayake secured the third position with an aggregate score of 207.

The girls’ division featured a close battle between Indian sisters Bhavika Unni and Avighna Unni, with Bhavika winning the Bronze Division Girls’ prize. Kaitlyn Norton secured the third place with an aggregate score of 209.

In the boys’ Copper Division, Revaan Amarasinghe fended off a challenge from Indian Vivaan Singh to win by two shots with an aggregate of 112. Danik Daluwatte secured the third position with an aggregate gross score of 128.

In the Girls Copper Division, India’s Aastha P Rao claimed the title with a substantial 20-stroke gap. Vihara Herath of Anuradhapura secured the second spot with 143, and India’s Aashna Amogha finished third with a gross score of 150.

The 15th edition of the Sri Lanka Junior Open Amateur Golf Championship, a significant world-ranking tournament, was organized by the Sri Lanka Golf Union and Junior Sub Committee. The event was proudly sponsored by PRIMA Sunrise Bread and concluded with a grand closing ceremony at the Royal Colombo Golf Club.
