COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s top squash player, Ravindu Laksiri, has achieved a remarkable milestone by reaching his highest-ever world ranking of 117. This leap in the rankings comes after he secured his fifth PSA Challenger title of the year, bringing his total to seven overall.
Laksiri, the undisputed national champion for over a decade, expressed his thoughts on this achievement, saying, “We all have dreams. It’s not easy to chase a dream that no one from a small country like Sri Lanka has achieved. But I have faced every challenge along the way, and I am slowly moving towards that dream.”
He added, “To reach our dreams, we must make sacrifices. No matter how difficult or long the journey is, I am determined to take every step forward with greater strength.”
Ravindu also thanked everyone who believes in him, saying, “Thank you to all who believe in my journey. I look forward to beautiful days ahead.”
Laksiri still has two more PSA Challenger Tournaments ahead. The first is in Mumbai in November, with a prize money of $6,000, where he is the top seed. He also hopes to compete in a $9,000 tournament, where he is seeded fifth. Laksiri aims to improve his ranking to under 100, a milestone never achieved by a Sri Lankan squash player in history.
