At the beginning, CR&FC faced some tough moments, making mistakes and falling behind. Havelocks played well, leading 7-3 at halftime and maintaining their lead until the final quarter.
However, CR&FC turned the game around, scoring four tries, a conversion, and a penalty. This victory keeps them unbeaten, along with defending champions Kandy SC. Havelocks, who started strong with an early try by Udara Lakshan, couldn’t hold onto their lead.
CR&FC struggled in the first half, but they managed to score a penalty in the 30th minute. Gemunu Chethiya’s running try gave them a slight lead of 8-7 by the 47th minute.
Havelocks responded with a penalty in the 53rd minute, retaking the lead at 10-8. However, CR&FC made a strong comeback with an unconverted try by Manelka Ruberu in the 58th minute.
Despite some mishaps, CR&FC held onto their lead. Winger Kushan Tharindu scored an unconverted try in the 72nd minute, extending their lead to 18-10. The game concluded with a rolling maul, covering almost 30 yards, leading to a bonus point try by Venura Kodagoda. With the conversion by Thenuka Nanayakkara, CR&FC sealed the victory at 25-10.
Now, CR&FC looks forward to maintaining their unbeaten record against title holders Kandy SC at Nittawela next Saturday.
