Dynamic duo: Dharmasena and Dissanayake triumph in UNIQLO Tennis Tour

Negombo, Feb 14, 7.10PM – Sri Lanka celebrated a double victory at the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour Colombo Open held in Negombo, with Suresh Dharmasena clinching both the singles and doubles titles alongside his partner, Gamini Dissanayake.

In the singles final, the top-seeded Suresh Dharmasena faced off against Malaysia’s A Borhan, securing a convincing victory with scores of 6-2 and 7-6 (3). This triumph marked Dharmasena’s second consecutive win in as many weeks, showcasing his consistent excellence on the court.

The dynamic duo of Suresh Dharmasena and Gamini Dissanayake continued their winning streak in the doubles final, triumphing over the Sri Lankan pair Pradeep Kumara and WP Wijesiri with scores of 7-6 and 6-4. This back-to-back success highlighted their exceptional teamwork in the doubles category.

The tournament’s second week shifted to Negombo on February 11 due to the World Junior Tournament progressing in Colombo. The tennis action in Negombo is set to continue with the Negombo Open tournament, scheduled to kick off on February 16. Tennis enthusiasts eagerly anticipate more thrilling matches and outstanding performances in the upcoming tournament.
