Colombo, Feb 15, 12.45PM – The 22nd edition of the International School Athletic Championship (ISAC) is set to kick off on February 24 and 25 at the Sugathadasa Stadium, bringing together 22 schools from The International School of Sri Lanka (TISSL). The event, organized by Gateway College for the 12th time, was officially announced at a press conference held at the Sinhalese Sports Club on Wednesday.
The two-day championship has three big sponsors: Pearson, Ritzbury, and Flinders University. Pyramid Vimlar is a Silver sponsor. Vida Medical is the Medical partner, and Sense Rehabilitation and Sports Hospital is the Rehabilitation partner. The Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency will do random tests to keep the competition fair and clean.
A total of 22 schools affiliated with TISSL will be participating, bringing together 1,460 athletes for their annual sports extravaganza. The championship, although not offering a championship trophy, will calculate the medal count by the alphabetical order of the 22 TISSL schools.
Among the participants, students from schools like Gateway College and Lyceum International School Wattala, who have excelled at the national level, will be showcasing their talents. The event promises to be a platform for these all-island school champions to compete and display their skills.
Sports enthusiasts and supporters are eagerly anticipating the 22nd ISAC, where the spirit of friendly competition and sportsmanship will take center stage at the Sugathadasa Stadium.
