SINGAPORE: (ePRESS) – Siblings Mikhail and Raphail Jayaweera have made a remarkable contribution to secure the championship title for Sri Lanka at the 14th Singapore Diving Championship, held at the OCBC Aquatic Centre this month.
Mikhail Jayaweera, representing Colombo International School, teamed up with his cousin Ruel Wickramaratne of Royal College to claim two gold medals. They triumphed in the Boys’ Group B 3m Synchronised Springboard event and the Platform Synchronised event. Mikhail also secured two bronze medals in the individual 3m Springboard and Platform events.
His younger brother, Raphail Jayaweera, a Royal College student, added two more gold medals in the Boys’ Group B category, winning both the 3m Springboard and 1m Springboard events.
The 28-member Sri Lanka diving team finished the championship with an impressive total of 28 medals, including seven golds. Of these, the Jayaweera brothers claimed four gold medals, playing a key role in Sri Lanka’s overall success.
