HAMBANTOTA: (ePRESS) – Jevahn Sathasivam of the Royal Colombo Golf Club topped the Gold Division leaderboard with an impressive score of 75 in the first round of the Hambantota Regional Junior Open Golf Championship. This event, organized by Sri Lanka Golf and sponsored by PRIMA Sunrise Bread, began at the Shangri-La Hambantota course on Friday.
Sathasivam’s score of five over par came on a course that has a par of 70. Yannik Kumara finished in second place with a score of 76, while Adithya Weerasinghe followed closely with a score of 77, all three outperforming leading WAGR player Reshan Algama, who recorded an 80.
In the Girls Gold Division, Kaya Daluwatte shone brightly, carding a remarkable 69 to take the lead among seven competitors. Sithara Lorance was the next best with a score of 82, leaving the rest trailing behind Daluwatte’s excellent performance.
In the Silver Division Boys segment, Kaveesha Sandaruwan led with a gross score of 89. The Bronze Division Boys category featured a close battle between Lavidu Premaratne, who scored 57, and Revaan Amarasinghe, who carded 59. In the Silver Girls division, Vihara Herath (62) and Genuli Weerakoon (65) also had a tight contest.
The Copper Boys division saw Abiman Abeywardhana at the top with a gross score of 40, followed by Yuvan Rathis Kanth with 42 and Jaeden Sathasivam with 43. In the Copper Girls Division, Dulkini Kangara finished with a score of 50.
