RAJAWELLA, Digana: (ePRESS) – Anumi Karunatillake stole the spotlight by becoming the Overall Winner of the LECTRA Grand Prix Monthly Medal – September Edition at Victoria Golf Resorts in Rajawella, Digana.

Karunatillake, a student at Good Shepherd Convent Kandy, demonstrated why she is one of the most promising golfers in the game. Her performance in the Ladies’ category was exceptional, earning her the title of Overall Winner.

Anumi’s triumph came on the back of a powerful display, where she also claimed the Longest Drive award for the Ladies, featuring her strength and precision in the sixth edition of this 12-month series.

However, the competition wasn’t limited to power alone; it also highlighted accuracy and consistency. In the Nearest to the Pin contest, Mrs. Niloo Jayatileke excelled, demonstrating her ability to deliver pinpoint shots under pressure. Her achievements didn’t stop there, as she also emerged as the Nett Winner in the Ladies’ category, showcasing her all-around ability.

On the Gents’ side, Thusara Rupasinghe proved his mettle with the Longest Drive award, highlighting incredible power on the course. Meanwhile, Nishal Hettiarachchi claimed the Nearest to the Pin title, exhibiting sharp accuracy. Derrik Ponnambalam’s consistent play throughout the tournament earned him the title of Gross Winner in the Gents’ category, while Tharindu Wickramasinghe followed closely as the Gross Runner-Up.

The Nett competition in the Gents’ category was equally competitive, with R. Bawaneethan winning the Nett title and Aslam Mohideen taking the runner-up spot. Both players showcased fine control over their game, maintaining consistency throughout the event.

In the Ladies’ Gross division, Miss Ahalya Rajan took home the top prize, edging out Mrs. Linda Harris, who finished as the runner-up. Rajan’s victory was a proof to her well-rounded game, balancing both power and accuracy over the course of the tournament.
