Bangkok, THAILAND: (ePERSS) – Kaya Daluwatte, Sri Lanka’s top elite golfer, made an incredible start in the Class AG on the opening round at the Singha Thailand Junior World Golf Championship held at the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course in Bangkok. The 16-year-old golfer took the lead with an impressive three-under-par round of 69 on the first day of the tournament yesterday.
Kaya’s outstanding performance included an eagle and five birdies, displaying her mastery and perseverance. Her remarkable play has firmly established her as a top contender for the title.
Following Kaya are strong competitors, including Vietnam’s Chuc An Lee, who scored a one-under-par 71, and Allyson, who finished with a two-over-par 74.
While Kaya’s performance has captured the spotlight, Sri Lanka’s two-member boys’ team, represented by Jacob Norton and Reshan Algama, faced challenges. Norton finished in 16th position with a score of 10-over-par 82, while Algama secured 18th place with an 11-over-par 83.
In the Boys Division, Sweden’s Theodore Kruss led the field as the only male player to finish under par, posting a solid one-under-par 71. The tournament continues to showcase young talent from around the world, and all eyes are on Kaya as she aims for victory in Thailand.
