Colombo, Jan 28, 6.15PM – Sri Lanka’s top girls golfer, Kaya Daluwatte, has secured her spot to represent the country at the 6th Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific Championship (WAAP). The championship will take place from February 1 to 4 at Siam Country Club in Waterside, Bangkok.
Daluwatte, a 15-year-old golfer from Sri Lanka currently based in India, earned her place through exceptional performances. She stands out as the sole player selected due to her remarkable achievements, including winning all the junior championships organized by Sri Lanka Golf in the past year.
The WAAP, established by The R&A and Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation, serves as a platform to discover emerging talent and offer a pathway for Asia’s top female amateurs to compete on the global stage.
The championship winner receives coveted invitations to participate in three major tournaments – the AIG Women’s Open, the Amundi Evian Championship, and The Chevron Championship. Additionally, they gain access to elite competitions like the Hana Financial Group Championship, ISPS HANDA Women’s Australian Open, The 121st Women’s Amateur Championship, and the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
