Bangkok, THAILAND: (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s top golfer Kaya Daluwatte dazzled spectators with her strong performance, maintaining her lead in the Girls Class A division after the second round of the Thai Singha World Junior Golf Championship at Royal Hua Hin Golf Course in Bangkok, Thailand.
In the challenging second round, Daluwatte carded a score of three-over-par 75, bringing her total to an impressive even-par 144, just one stroke ahead of Vietnam’s Chuc An Lee, who finished the day with a score of two-over-par 74 for a total gross of 145.
Daluwatte’s skill was clear from the start, as she opened the championship with a remarkable three-under-par 69 on Day One, which set her up well to manage her lead on Day Two. Despite tougher conditions, she held her ground to stay at the top of the leaderboard, impressing spectators with her resilience and composure.
“I’m really happy with how I played so far,” Kaya Daluwatte said after her round. “It wasn’t easy out there, especially with some tough holes today, but I stayed focused. I just want to keep my rhythm and play my best in the final rounds.”
Trailing closely, Vietnam’s Chuc An Le posted a two-over-par 74 in her second round, giving her a two-day total of 145. Le’s consistency has kept her firmly in second place, just one stroke behind Daluwatte, creating a tight contest as the championship progresses.
In the boys’ division, Thai golfer N. Sichapthiran made an impressive move up the leaderboard, claiming the lead with a one-under-par total of 143. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Jacob Norton and Reshan Algama displayed notable improvement. Norton climbed to 12th place with a cumulative score of 159, while Algama follows in 15th with a score of 161. Both players have set their sights on a coveted top-10 finish.
As the championship heads into its third and penultimate round, the battle for the top positions intensifies, with Daluwatte and Lee vying for the Girls Class A title and Norton and Algama aiming to advance in the boys’ standings.
