DIGANA, Kandy, Sri Lanka, April 13, 2025 (ePRESS) – N Krishnakumar and Anumi Karunathilaka emerged as the Overall Winners of the Lectra Grand Prix Monthly Medal Golf Series after the 12th and final edition concluded at the stunning Victoria Golf Resort in Digana, Kandy recently. Their consistent performance over the year helped them outplay more than 150 golfers who took part across all editions.
The Lectra Grand Prix, powered by Apparel Technologies, was launched in April 2024 and ran as a monthly series over 12 editions. The event quickly became one of the most competitive and eagerly followed amateur golf competitions in Sri Lanka.
Krishnakumar, who topped the Gents’ Overall Leaderboard, expressed his joy and pride. “It has been a long and challenging journey. Each edition tested my game in different ways, but I stayed focused and gave it my all. This title means a lot to me,” he said after receiving the award.
Anumi Karunathilaka, the Overall Winner in the Ladies’ category, was equally delighted. “I am truly grateful for this experience. Competing in all 12 editions has helped me grow as a golfer. Winning this title is a dream come true,” she said, smiling with her trophy in hand.
In the Gents’ category, R Bawaneethan and K Wigneswaran finished second and third respectively, followed by D Ponnambalam and Ganeshan Sriharan. In the Ladies’ division, Anumi was closely followed by Rudrani Devidas, Malenie Bond, P. Morley, and V. Pagliuca.
The final monthly medal took place on April 6, with some exciting performances. Sithara Lowrance clinched the Gross Winner title among Ladies, while Rizmy Shariff took the same honour in the Gents’ category. Nett Winners were Rudrani Devidas (Ladies) and Pradeep Karunathilake (Gents), while Rudrani’s strong all-round effort also secured her the Overall Winner title for April.
Tournament organisers praised the commitment and sportsmanship shown by the players throughout the year. With more than 150 golfers participating since April last year, the Lectra Grand Prix has strengthened the local amateur golf arena.
