Nations Trust Golf Championship expands with 345 golfers

COLOMBO, May 14 (ePRESS) – The 2026 edition of the Nations Trust Golf Championship will tee off with a major new feature as Nations Trust Bank introduces three shotgun starts for the first time in the tournament’s history when more than 345 golfers compete at the historic Royal Colombo Golf Club on May 22 and 23.

The annual championship, organised in partnership with the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC), is expected to attract a large field of players representing the bank’s Private Banking, American Express, Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking sectors along with invited golf enthusiasts.

Tournament organisers stated that the introduction of three shotgun starts was aimed at accommodating the growing interest and participation in the championship, which has become one of the leading corporate golf events in Sri Lanka.

Competitors will battle for titles in several categories including Men’s and Ladies’ Winners and Runners-Up as well as Masters and Seniors divisions. Special awards will also be presented for the Longest Drive at the eighth hole, Closest to the Pin at the 13th hole and the Overall Champion.

One of the biggest attractions of the tournament will be the Hole-in-One prize, where golfers will have the chance to win a Hublot Big Bang Unico Titanium 42mm luxury watch worth Rs. 8 million. The Overall Winner will also receive an all-expenses-paid golf tour to the Maldives including accommodation at a premier golf resort.

Sanjaya Senarath, Chief Marketing Officer of Nations Trust Bank, said the championship continued to play an important role in strengthening relationships with customers while creating an enjoyable sporting atmosphere for golf enthusiasts.

RCGC Captain Mahela Jayawardene said the event would once again bring together a diverse group of players united by their passion for golf and camaraderie.

The tournament is part of the long-term collaboration between Nations Trust Bank and the Royal Colombo Golf Club and will continue annually through 2028 as the bank further expands its support towards sporting culture and community engagement in Sri Lanka.
