PRIMA Sri Lanka Junior Open tees off with record entries

The 15th Sri Lanka Junior Open Championship, proudly sponsored by Prima and organized by the Sri Lanka Golf Union alongside the Junior Sub-Committee for Golf, is all set to commence on Wednesday at the Royal Colombo Golf Club. This highly anticipated tournament, featuring an impressive 112 entries from diverse locations, will wrap up with the awards ceremony scheduled for December 22 at 3:30 PM.

Sri Lanka Golf is delighted to unveil a diverse participant lineup, including ten players from India, one from Singapore, and a well-balanced representation from Colombo, Anuradhapura, Nuwara Eliya and Digana. This marks the highest number of entries in the history of the Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championship.

The three-day competition will commence across four Age Group Divisions: Gold (15 to 18), Silver (13 to 14 Plus), Bronze (11 to 12 Plus), and Copper (10 and Under), with dedicated categories for boys and girls in each division.

The reigning champion, K Dhanushan, faces formidable competition from local talents like RCGC Champion Reshan Algama, who recently represented Sri Lanka in the 119th Indian Amateur Golf Championship, Yannik Kumara, the recent Scanwell Junior Tournament champion Jacob Norten and Sri Lanka Junior Stroke Play Champion runner-up Jevhan Sathasivam.

In the Girls segment, defending champion Kaya Daluwatte, who excelled at the All India Ladies’ Amateur Championship, and Sherin Balasuriya will encounter strong challenges from talented Indian players.

The Silver Division promises intense competition, featuring Adithya Weerasinghe from Anuradhapura Golf Academy, Colombo players Keshav Algama, Kaiyen Johnpillai, Thejas Rathieesh Kanth, and other skilled Indian players.

The Gold and Silver divisions will unfold over three days, with 18 holes played each day. The Bronze Division will witness 14 holes per day, while the Copper Division will engage in nine holes daily throughout the tournament.
