Pushpika’s overseas brilliance in Malaysia

DEC 17, MALAYSIA: Sri Lanka’s Chalitha Pushpika secured another impressive finish at the Saujana Amateur Championship, held from December 11th to 13th at the Saujana Golf and Country Club’s Palm Course in Malaysia.

The three-day competition drew 91 players to the challenging course, with Pushpika claiming the 14th position and an aggregate score of 227. His consistent performance underscored significant improvement, showing his ability to score competitively on international turf.

Uchitha Ranasinghe, in only his third overseas appearance, earned credit by securing the 35th position with a total score of 237. Among the 91 contenders, 51 players made the cut, attesting to the competitive nature of the championship.

The highlight of the tournament, however, belonged to Hariz Hezri, who clinched his second consecutive victory. Following his recent win in the Malaysian Amateur Championship, Hezri emerged triumphant in a playoff against Siwakorn Kriangkaron. This accomplishment further solidifies Hezri’s standing in the golfing community.

The Saujana Amateur Championship not only showcased the talents of Pushpika and Ranasinghe but also demonstrated the high competition among 91 players striving for success.
