COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – The seventh edition of Race the Pearl, a long-distance cycling race, will take place on December 7. Cyclists will ride 600 kilometers from Point Pedro in the north to Dondra in the south, passing through 100 towns across Sri Lanka.

The race, organized by Spinner Cycling, is a qualifier for the world-famous Race Across America (RAAM). This year, over 60 cyclists from different countries will join the event, making it a unique and exciting experience.

“Race the Pearl is more than a race. It’s a way to bring people together, promote tourism, and celebrate Sri Lanka’s culture,” said Yasas Hewage, the race organizer. He also mentioned the theme ‘Dance the A9’, which highlights the country’s dance traditions along the race route.

The race has three types of rides: a 24-hour Solo Ride, a Two-Day Solo Ride, and a Relay Team Ride with up to five members. Cyclists in the 24-hour Solo and Team Race can earn the Pearl Jersey, a special prize for finishing within the race time.

Participants will face tough challenges, including strong winds, steep climbs, and changing weather. The race will take them through Sri Lanka’s stunning views, offering a mix of adventure and beauty.

Race the Pearl also supports local communities. The ‘Ride School’ project donates bicycles to children in rural areas to help them travel to school. A forum in Dambulla will also help small businesses grow by sharing ideas and opportunities.

The event is supported by MAS Holdings, Jetwing Hotels, Browns Hotels & Resorts, PickMe, and other sponsors. Fans can follow updates on the official website www.racethepearl.com and social media pages.
