Ravindu Laksiri Aims for 11th Title in Blockbuster Senior National Squash Event

The highly anticipated 43rd Senior National Squash Championship, organized by Sri Lanka Squash, is currently being held at the Air Force Squash Complex in Rathmalana from December 6th to 10th, 2023. The finals of the main events and the subsequent award ceremony will be held from 4:00 pm onwards on December 10th, 2023.

This championship will serve as a PSA closed satellite event, allowing Sri Lankan players to earn international ranking points, thereby enhancing their current international standings. The reigning National Champion, Ravindu Laksiri, holder of 10 titles and with a PSA International Ranking of 140, is vying for his 11th National title. Other strong contenders include Shamail Wakeel, recent winner of a PSA Satellite event in Australia, and a group of talented players like Sharif Hakeem, Methmal Wood, Viduranga Udantha, Nevindu Lakman, Tuwin Nilakshana, and Ashan Silva.

In the Women’s Open event, a fierce competition is expected between the reigning National Champion Chanithma Sinaly (PSA International ranking 157), three-time National champion Fathoum Issadeen (PSA international Ranking 280), and Yeheni Kuruppu (PSA international ranking 289). Other notable contenders include Dewmini Gallage, Adithi Gunesekara, Themini Palliyaguru, Anargi Perera, and Shenaya Siriwardena.
