GALLE: (ePRESS) – Richmond College Galle excelled by winning two categories at the SLTA-DENTA Teen Cool Tennis Regional Kids’ Play Day 2024, organized by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association and sponsored by DENTA Teen. The event was held recently at the Galle Service Club.
Teams from Kalutara, Panadura, Moratuwa, Ratnapura, and Galle participated in this exciting event, showcasing the rising stars of Sri Lankan tennis. The tournament brought together 320 young tennis talents from 32 teams across the Galle region.
The Boys Orange Ball category saw a dominant performance from Richmond College, with their Green Team taking the title and their Red Team finishing as runners-up. St Sebastian’s College Moratuwa secured third place, followed by Richmond College Blue Team in fourth.
In the Boys Green Ball category, Richmond College Red Team claimed another victory, with St Sebastian’s College Moratuwa A’ Team as runners-up. Mahinda College Galle finished third, while Richmond College Blue Team took fourth place.
In the Boys Red Ball category, St Sebastian’s College Moratuwa emerged as champions, beating Richmond College Galle Red Team, who claimed the runner-up spot. Vidyaloka College A’ Team secured the third place, while Mahinda College Black Team finished fourth.
For the Girls Green Ball category, Kalutara Balika National School won the championship, while St John’s Girls School Panadura finished as runners-up.
The tournament, organized by the Galle Services Club with support from the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) and title sponsor DENTA Teen, provided a platform for young players to display their skills and compete at a regional level. Mahesha Maduhansi and MMM Riham directed the event, with Santhush Perera serving as the referee.
