MOUNT LAVINIA: (ePRESS) – S. Thomas’ College tennis will receive a major boost as they partner with YETI, the official hydration partner, for the annual EFC Pereira Memorial Trophy, the encounter against traditional rivals Royal College will be held at the S. Thomas’ Tennis Courts in Mount Lavinia on Saturday, August 3, starting at 8:00 a.m.
This year marks the 18th edition of this annual tennis clash, organized by S. Thomas’. The trophy honors E. F. C. Pereira and will feature matches in three age categories: Under-13, Under-15, and Under-20.
Royal College, led by captain Thilina Dissanayake, is aiming to retain the trophy for the second consecutive year. Meanwhile, S. Thomas’, captained by Meneshka Ratnasinghe, will seek to leverage their home advantage to reclaim the trophy.
Royal College’s team is coached by Renouk Wijemanne, a Davis Cup player, while S. Thomas’ is guided by Sanka Athukorale, a former Davis Cup player and current Sri Lanka national coach.
Since the tournament’s inception in 2003, Royal College has dominated with 13 victories, while S. Thomas’ has won four times.
