COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – Sanduni Wanasinghe emerged triumphant in a thrilling finale at the annual Ridgeway Cup, hosted by the Royal Colombo Golf Club. Wanasinghe secured a decisive 6-4 victory over Roshini Sangani to clinch the prestigious title.
In the semi-finals, Wanasinghe excelled by defeating Anouk Chitty with a commanding score of 5/3, while Sangani advanced by overcoming Jade Jiggens with a score of 4/2, after Jiggens had led by 1 up earlier in the match.
The quarter-finals saw Wanasinghe facing tough competition from Manori Jayakody, ultimately prevailing 3/2 in a closely contested match. Meanwhile, Sangani’s journey to the semi-finals included a notable victory over Viv Fowler Watt, finishing 4/3.
The tournament, featuring a competitive 16-player draw, highlighted Wanasinghe’s consistent performance and strategic play throughout the rounds. Anouk Chitty advanced to the quarter-finals with a walkover.
