SLASU’s Elite Panel sets the aquatic standard

SLASU Technical Official Panel 2 1

Colombo, Jan 7, Sun – The Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) recently formed a 30-member Elite Technical Official Panel, playing a pivotal role in the successful management of the Sri Lanka National Short Course Championship last week. Notably, this championship witnessed the historic inclusion of a foreign team from the Maldives, held in the scenic city of Kandy.

While SLASU typically boasts a robust team of around 120 Technical Officials, this exclusive panel of 30 members underwent specialized qualifying exams to elevate their expertise, enabling them to officiate international events. Spearheading this elite group is Danaji de Silva, assuming the role of Director of Technical Officials, with Nihal Bamunuarachchi leading as the Chief Referee. The jury also featured prominent members, including DG Priyantha and PG Punchihewa.

The five-day National Short Course Championship unfolded seamlessly under the adept guidance of the Elite Technical Official Panel, showcasing their efficiency and dedication. Notably, there were no reported obstacles during the event, highlighting the success of SLASU’s initiative in elevating the standards of aquatic sports officiation.
