COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – Ananda College and Visakha Vidyalaya emerged as the top winners at the SLTA-DENTA Teen Cool Tennis Regional Kids’ Play Day 2024 (Colombo), held at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association recently.
Ananda College ‘A’ team dominated the Boys’ Red Ball and Boys’ Orange Ball categories, while Visakha Vidyalaya triumphed in the Girls’ Red Ball event. In the Girls’ Orange Ball category, Ladies’ College claimed victory. The tournament saw over 830 players across 83 teams compete in this highly anticipated event.
In the Boys’ Red Ball category, Ananda College ‘A’ team secured the championship title, defeating Royal College Blue team, who finished as runners-up. St Peter’s College claimed third place, while S. Thomas’ College took fourth. Visakha Vidyalaya demonstrated their dominance in the Girls’ Red Ball category, with Musaeus College’s Gold team finishing as runners-up. Methodist College ‘A’ team came in third, and Bishop’s College placed fourth.
Ananda College continued their impressive run in the Boys’ Orange Ball event, once again clinching the championship title. St Peter’s College Blue team finished second, followed by Nalanda College’s Silver Force team in third place, and Wesley College in fourth.
In the Girls’ Orange Ball category, Ladies’ College emerged victorious, securing the top spot. Musaeus College’s Gold team came in second, while Visakha Vidyalaya took third place and Bishop’s College finished fourth.
The SLTA-DENTA Teen Cool Tennis Regional Kids’ Play Day was organized by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association, with DENTA Teen as the title sponsor. The event brought together young tennis talent from the Colombo region, offering a platform for young players to showcase their skills. Tournament Director Upul Priyantha, alongside referees Shehara Medawala and Saarangan Jeyachandirun, ensured the smooth running of the competition.
This tournament not only highlighted the depth of young tennis talent in the Colombo region but also emphasized the importance of youth development in tennis through events like this, supported by DENTA Teen and the Sri Lanka Tennis Association.
