COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – The Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) officially opened the highly anticipated DENTA Teen Cool Tennis All Island Inter School Kids’ Play Day 2024 at the SLTA Headquarters on Friday. The event was graced by Hanif Yusoof, the Governor of the Western Province, as the Chief Guest.
This year’s tournament carries the special theme, “I love watching you play,” which focuses on celebrating the joy of tennis and encouraging young players to fully embrace the sport. The tournament will run until October 21 (Monday).
With over 172 teams registered from various regions, including Colombo, Kandy, Negombo, Kalutara, Panadura, Moratuwa, Galle, Matale, Kurunegala, Ratnapura, Gampaha, and Jaffna, the event is set to attract around 1,800 participants. Young athletes will compete in multiple age categories, including Under-7 (Red ball), Under-8 (Orange ball), and Under-10 (Green ball).
The opening ceremony also featured Ghaffar Ghouse, CEO of the Personal Care Division of Darley Butler & Company Limited, as the Guest of Honour. Several industry leaders and officials from the SLTA attended the event, displaying strong support for the next generation of tennis players in Sri Lanka.
