COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, Wednesday, December 24 (ePRESS) — Iconic boxing administrator Dian Gomes, a towering figure in Sri Lanka’s proud boxing history, will lead a landmark moment for the sport when the Ceylon Boxing Federation (CBF) launches its official website and inducts its Advisory and Executive Committees on Sunday, December 28 at 5pm, at the BMICH in Colombo, in a ceremony bringing together more than 125 veteran boxers from across the island.

Gomes, a former President of the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka and a current director of the International Boxing Association (IBA) and the Asian Boxing Confederation (ABC), will attend as chief guest, underlining the event’s importance. His presence reflects Sri Lanka boxing’s deep roots and its renewed push to protect its legacy while moving towards modern, international standards of governance and professionalism.

The historic gathering will unite former champions, officials and administrators who shaped the sport over decades, placing veteran boxers at the heart of the CBF’s mission. The federation aims to recognise, protect and empower boxing pioneers while opening clear development pathways for the next generation.

The CBF has been formed as a unifying platform for veteran boxers, referees, judges, administrators and key stakeholders, with a strong focus on welfare, post-career support and professional growth within the sport.

Another key objective of the federation is to preserve and document Sri Lanka’s boxing history while strengthening ties with national and international boxing bodies, ensuring the sport remains connected to the international boxing community.

The event will also mark the launch of the CBF official website, a digital platform designed to record the country’s boxing heritage, communicate federation initiatives and connect Sri Lankan boxing with the international arena.
