Colombo, Feb 4, 4.30PM – In a big step forward, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is set to reveal some awesome new features at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium (RDICS) on February 5, with the President of Sri Lanka, Honorable Ranil Wickremesinghe, as the Chief Guest.

The President, along with Honorable Harin Fernando, the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Lands, and Tourism, will officially open the new facilities, which include a cool swimming pool, a Hydrotherapy and Injury Rehabilitation Unit, and a Modern Flood Light System for the ground.

These upgrades mark a significant moment for cricket development, especially in the North Central, Northern, and North Western provinces. The LED-light-driven sports stadium is the first of its kind in the country, and the world-class swimming pool and rehab unit will make the Dambulla center even stronger.

Excitingly, these facilities will benefit various cricket teams, from U13 to U19, both Men’s and Women’s, as well as the U23 Women’s and the National Super League Team of Dambulla. The goal is to help these teams improve their skills and reach higher standards.

But that’s not all – there are even more plans in the works. President Ranil Wickremesinghe will lay the foundation for additional facilities, including an indoor net and practice area, a new media center, and the redevelopment of the grandstand.

A distinguished group, including Vice Presidents Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa and Mr. Ravin Wickramaratne, Acting Secretary Mr. Chryshantha Kapuwatte, Treasurer Mr. Sujeeva Godaliyadda, and CEO Mr. Ashley De Silva, will be present at this special event. It’s a big leap forward for cricket in Sri Lanka, and everyone is eager to see these improvements in action!
