COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s national football team will compete in a two-match FIFA international series against Yemen in Doha, Qatar, on November 16 and 19.
The matches are a vital part of Sri Lanka’s preparations for the third round of the AFC Asian Cup 2027, providing a key opportunity to assess the team’s readiness for future competitions.
Despite Yemen being ranked 154th in the world, compared to Sri Lanka’s 203rd, experts believe that Sri Lanka’s recent growth and tactical advancements will help them perform well above their current FIFA ranking.
Head Coach Abdullah Almutairi, known for his attacking style of play, is optimistic about the upcoming matches. “We are ready to showcase our progress and continue building on our strengths. These games are crucial in our journey,” Almutairi said as the team prepares to depart for Doha.
