Sri Lanka falls to host Singapore in last-minute drama

SINGAPORE: (ePRESS) – The Sri Lanka Men’s Under-21 hockey team led 1-0 at half-time but lost to host Singapore in a Pool ‘A’ round-robin match of the Men’s Junior AHF Cup, which continued in Singapore on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka took control early, with Ravindu Lakruwan scoring in the 12th minute, giving them a 1-0 lead. They maintained this advantage through the first half.

In the third quarter, Singapore’s captain, Wee Lee, scored the equalizer in the 40th minute. This goal boosted Singapore’s morale, ending the third quarter at 1-1.

The final quarter saw more drama. In the 59th minute, Wee Lee struck again, scoring the winning goal for Singapore. This late goal shattered Sri Lanka’s hopes of victory.

The Sri Lanka Men’s team will play against Thailand next. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Women’s team will face host Singapore on Thursday.
