Sri Lanka Golf Ranking Tournament: Dhanaranjan leads for first time in career

NUWARA ELIYA: (ePRESS) – A. Dhanaranjan of Victoria Golf Resort made a stunning achievement on Wednesday at the Sri Lanka Golf Ranking Tournament. Playing at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, he carded the best score of the day with a one over-par 72. This remarkable performance brought his total gross to 222, placing him at the top of the leaderboard for the first time in his career.

Dhanaranjan’s consistent play, matching his previous day’s score of 72, helped him surpass the previous leader, Uchitha Ranasinghe of RCGC. Ranasinghe had an uncharacteristic round, finishing with a gross of 80, and a total gross of 223, putting him in second place.

Haroon Aslam, also from Victoria Golf Resort and the top performer of the first round, had a tough day. He carded a gross of 79, eight over-par, and a total gross of 225, showing how challenging the course was.

Sri Lanka Navy’s Chalitha Pushpika tied for the second best shot of the day with a gross of 77. He shared this score with Reshan Algama, the amateur golfer ranking leader from RCGC, and GWAJ Wijenayake of Sri Lanka Air Force.

Pushpika finished fourth with a total gross of 226. Algama took fifth place with a total of 232, while Wijenayake, despite his strong third round, ended up 13th with a total gross of 249.

Other notable scores included Chanaka Perera, who came sixth with a gross of 79 and a total of 235. Yannik Kumara carded a 78, totaling 239 and placing seventh. S. Dhuwarshan had a gross of 80, finishing with 240, while Jevahn Sathasivam scored 83, totaling 241 to round out the top ten.

Further down, PDSU Kumara and RMS Rupasinghe both had a total gross of 242, with Rupasinghe carding a strong 79. Jacob Nortan finished 12th with a total of 243 after an 80 in his round.

Tomorrow, the final round of the Sri Lanka Golf Ranking Tournament will see a close contest among A. Dhanaranjan, Uchitha Ranasinghe, Haroon Aslam, and Chalitha Pushpika, as they compete for the top spot.
