COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka is ready to field two strong teams for the CEAT Europe Range-sponsored 133rd Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship, recognized as the world’s longest amateur championship outside the United Kingdom, will take place at the Royal Colombo Golf Club from November 3 to November 10.
The Sri Lanka ‘A’ team features one of the top ranked amateur golfers Chalitha Pushpika from the Navy and Chanaka Perera. They will represent the nation in this historical event. The Sri Lanka ‘B’ team includes debutant Jevahn Sathasivam of Royal Colombo Golf Club and Sri Lanka Air Force golfer SU Kumara.
In addition to the championship, Sri Lanka will compete for the General Zia Ul Haq Trophy against Pakistan, whose team consists of players Raja Muhammad Israr and Malik Muhammad Shoaib.
In early 2024, Sri Lanka’s golf team, featuring Chalitha Pushpika and Uchitha Ranasinghe, secured victory in the JR Jayewardene Trophy at the 63rd National Amateur Golf Championship in Pakistan. The championship took place at the Margalla Greens Golf Club in Islamabad in April.
