In a proud moment for Sri Lanka, Chalitha Pushpika of the Sri Lanka Navy and Uchitha Ranasinghe from the Royal Colombo Golf Club are set to represent Sri Lanka Golf at the 119th Malaysian Amateur Open Golf Tournament. Scheduled from December 5 to 7, the golfing extravaganza will kick off at the Tiara Melaka Golf and Country Club in Malaysia.

The dynamic duo’s selection stems from their stellar performances in the recently concluded National Ranking Tournament at the Victoria Golf and Country Club last week. Their golfing prowess not only drew admiration from enthusiasts but also secured them the coveted opportunity to compete on the international stage.

At 28 years old, Chalitha Pushpika boasts an impressive third position in the Sri Lankan golf rankings. With an extensive record of 10 overseas tours, he and Uchitha Ranasinghe teamed up for a memorable runner-up finish in Pakistan earlier this year.

Uchitha Ranasinghe, a 27-year-old golfer and son of golf legend Anura Rohana, concluded the November Ranking Tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Golf in the fourth position. This marks his fourth overseas golf tour, having previously showcased his skills in Singapore three years ago, Thailand in 2022, and Pakistan earlier this year. Currently ranked as the fourth-best golfer in Sri Lanka, Uchitha is geared up to make his mark on the Malaysian greens.

Following their participation in the Malaysian Amateur Open, Pushpika and Ranasinghe will continue their golfing journey by teeing off at the Saujana Amateur Championship from December 13 to 15. This championship will unfold at the Saujana Golf and Country Club, also nestled in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

These upcoming tournaments present an exciting opportunity for these talented Sri Lankan golfers to showcase their skills and leave an indelible mark in the competitive world of amateur golf. As they prepare to face international competition, Sri Lanka Golf eagerly watches, hopeful for their success on the fairways of Malaysia.
