Sri Lanka’s Peiris, Norbet rule ATF U-14 finals

COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s Damsath Peiris and Annaya Norbet emerged victorious in the Boys’ and Girls’ Singles categories respectively, at the conclusion of Week II of the ATF Under-14 Boys and Girls Tournament, organized by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association and held at the SLTA courts in Colombo yesterday.

Peiris, a player of Ananda College, dominated the Boys’ final with a 6-2, 6-1 win over fellow Lankan Yudheerya Atapattu of Maliyadeva College. Peiris showcased his powerful serve and precise groundstrokes, maintaining control throughout the match to claim the title.

In the Girls’ final, Norbet of Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya faced a tougher challenge. After losing the first set 4-6 to India’s Diya Ravikumar, Norbet bounced back with determination. She won the next two sets in thrilling tiebreaks, both 7-6, to secure a hard-fought victory and the championship title. The match was filled with intense rallies and impressive shot-making, with Norbet showing resilience and focus to clinch the win.
