Sri Lanka’s top amateur golfers Chalitha and Reshan head to Japan for Asia-Pacific Championship

COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka will be represented by golfers Chalitha Pushpika and Reshan Algama at the upcoming 15th Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, taking place at the Taiheiyo Club in Gotemba, Japan from October 3 to October 6.

Their selection was made by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), which invited the two highest-ranked World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) players from each Asia-Pacific country.

The championship will feature a 72-hole stroke play format, with a cut after 36 holes that allows the top 60 players to continue competing. This prestigious tournament will be held at the Taiheiyo Club Gotemba, a challenging par 70 course that spans 7,217 yards.

The champion of this year’s event will earn an invitation to compete in the Masters Tournament, along with exemptions into The Open Championship and The Amateur Championship. Meanwhile, the runner-up will receive a spot in The Open Qualifying Series, providing an opportunity to secure a place in The Open Championship.
