Srixon RCGC Junior Open tees off with excitement

Colombo, Jan 8, 7.15PM – The Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) buzzes with anticipation as the First Round matches of the Srixon RCGC Junior Open Golf Championship, proudly sponsored by Srixon, commence on  January 9.

This thrilling tournament commences across four divisions, catering to various age groups: Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Copper, for both boys and girls.

In the Gold Division, players aged Under-15 to Under-19 will engage in  intense 18-hole battles. Divided into Boys (Black Markers) and Girls (Red Markers) teams, the Gold Division boasts a stellar lineup, including Junior Open Champion Jevahn Sathasivam, Reshan Algama, Janeesh Weerasinghe, Kvahn Tejwani, Yannik Kumara, Adithya Weerasinghe, K Danushan, Akein Subasinghe, Kian Niyarepola, Lorance Dedunu of Victoria Golf Club, Hirantha Lakshan, GS Sathsara, Nirwan Hettiarachchi, Hirusha Pramuditha, and Uditha Subodha.

The Silver Division, featuring players aged Under-15, promises riveting 18-hole matches. Segregated into Boys (Black Markers) and Girls (Red Markers) teams, this division displays top talents such as Thasindu Dhamsith, Divyashz Silva, T Deshan, Kavindi Umasha Sathsarani, Keshav Algama, Janumi Behansa, Pradhushan Gokul, Kaya Abhayaratne, Kaweesha Sandaruwan, Kaiyan Johnpillai, Idusha Bandara, Avincka Amarasinghe, Ayaan Gunasekara, Aaradhi Samararatne, and Suhan Silva.

The Bronze Division, designed for players aged Under-13, starts with 14 holes of daily play. Teams named Boys (Yellow Markers) and Girls (Yellow Markers) will witness spirited performances from participants like Ronal Scofield, Shenal Nimsith, Lithum Silva, Udeera Bandara, Pawan Sathy Praboshith, Levindu Nanayakkara, Ashane Sumantilleke, Nimasha Dahamdi, Javier Galapitage, Chamath Kavisara, and Lavindu Premarathne.

In the Copper Division for Under-10 players, nine holes of play await both boys and girls (Blue Markers). This division includes budding talents such as Yuhas Samararathne, Revan Amarasinghe, Jaeden Sathasivam, Hesandi Gayansa Meepawala, Kerin, Kenul Scofield, Jaidon Herath, Vihara Herath, Abiman Abeywardhane, Thangaraja Sanuthi, Thangaraja Onitma, and Aqeel Hussain.

As the young golfers step onto the course, the Srixon RCGC Junior Open Golf Championship promises exhilarating competition and highlights the promising future of golf in Sri Lanka.
