Sri Lanka’s top golfers, Reshan Algama and Chanaka Perera, have set off for the 122nd All India Amateur Golf Championship in Kolkata. The tournament is scheduled to take place from December 11 to 17.
Reshan Algama, a 15-year-old student from Colombo International School representing the Royal Colombo Golf Club, has had a remarkable year. He clinched three National Ranking Tournament Titles, establishing a record-breaking achievement at such a young age. Despite being only 15, Algama is ranked 557th in the world.
Chanaka Perera, aged 28 and a former student of DS Senanayake College, joins his teammate Reshan Algama in representing the Royal Colombo Golf Club. Currently ranked 559 globally, Perera is eagerly anticipating the All India Tournament, set to host over 120 golfers from around the world.
The duo earned their spots in the championship based on their outstanding performances throughout the year, as determined by the Selection Committee of Sri Lanka Golf. The committee made their selections following the November National Ranking Tournament held in Digana last month.
