Thangaraja leads by 16 strokes after day 3 at Golf Ranking Tournament

COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s professional golfer Nadaraja Thangaraja delivered a stunning performance on the third day of the Golf Ranking Tournament organized by Sri Lanka Golf at the Royal Colombo Golf Club on Wednesday. Thangaraja, who has been in exceptional form throughout the tournament, recorded the day’s best score with a gross 67, adding to his impressive rounds of 66 and 68 from the previous days.

With a total gross score of 201, Thangaraja is now two strokes below the par score of 203, and he leads the competition by a significant margin. His remarkable consistency has given him a commanding 16-stroke lead over second-placed K Dhanushan, who moved up the leaderboard with a gross score of 73, bringing his total to 217.

Dhanushan shares the second spot with Navy amateur golfer Chalitha Pushpika, who also has a total gross of 217 after both Pushpika and Husni Uwise ended the third round with identical gross scores of 76. However, Pushpika holds an edge over Uwise, whose total gross stands at 222.

SU Kumara delivered the second-best score of the day with a 70, placing him fifth with a total gross of 223. Seasoned amateur golfer Uchitha Ranasinghe, with a score of 75, also sits at 223, while Chanaka Perera (74) with 224 and teaching pro golfer Priya Hemantha (71) with 226 round out the top eight in the 30-member men’s leaderboard.

In the ladies’ competition, Sanduni Wanasinghe leads the four-member leaderboard with a total of 282 after scoring 91. Dhanshi Wanasinghe follows with 293, while Aaraadhi Samararatne is third with 312. Notably, previous day’s top performer Dhevinka Kanag-Isvaran did not compete on the third day.
