COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – The 18th annual hockey encounter between Ladies’ College and Bishop’s College will take place on September 28 (Saturday) at Police Park, starting at 4 PM. Before the main event, the Under-17 teams will compete at 2 PM.

Ladies’ College, led by captain Amaani Imran and vice-captain Anya Abhayaratne, will rely on key senior player Thimanya Ellepola, last year’s captain. Bishop’s College is captained by Nethra Shaker, with Maika Tennekoon as her deputy, and last year’s captain Anika Tennekoon also playing a crucial role.

Ladies’ College is the defending champion, having won last year’s Under-17 match with a thrilling 1-0 victory. The Under-19 game ended in a scoreless draw, which was enough for Ladies’ College to retain the Shield.

Since their first encounter in 2005, Ladies’ College leads the series with nine victories, while Bishop’s College has six wins. There have been three joint championships in 2010, 2014, and 2022. The match in 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
