COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – Visakha Vidyalaya emerged as the unbeaten Regional Champions in both the Green Ball and Red Ball categories at the DENTA-SLTA Tennis Teen Cool Tennis Colombo Regional Inter-school Kids Play Day, held at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts in Colombo.
The Visakha teams dominated the competition, going undefeated in the initial five-match Round Robin stage and advancing smoothly through the Knock-out rounds. In the Red Ball category, they reached the quarter-finals against Methodist College and claimed victory over runners-up Musaeus College in the final with a convincing 3-0 win, maintaining an unblemished record throughout all eight games of the tournament. Methodist College secured third place.
In the Green Ball category, Visakha Vidyalaya’s ‘A’ team topped the Round Robin stage, winning all four matches. In a noteworthy semi-final, Visakha ‘A’ faced their own ‘B’ team, with the ‘A’ team advancing to the final. They went on to defeat Ladies’ College in the final in straight sets. Ladies’ College had advanced to the final by overcoming Musaeus College in the semi-final. Visakha ‘B’ team finished strong, securing third place in the Green Ball category.
