Negombo, Feb 11, 830PM – Sri Lanka’s Suresh Dharmasena and Gamini Dissanayake, who were champions in the first leg, have made it to the quarterfinals of the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour second leg. The tournament is being held by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association with oversight from the International Tennis Federation. The second leg began in Negombo on Sunday.
Dharmasena, who is the number one seed, had a smooth victory against Sri Lankan WP Wijesiri with a score of 6-0, 6-0. He didn’t even have to play his first match as he got a walkover. Now, he is set to face Sang-Ho of Korea, who is seeded sixth, in the quarterfinals.
Dissanayake, Dharmasena’s doubles partner in the first leg, is seeded seventh in this tournament. He also secured his spot in the quarterfinals by defeating Durai Mariappan of India 6-0, 6-0. Dissanayake will be facing Tachi Tomoya from Japan, who is seeded fourth today. Like Dharmasena, Dissanayake had a bye in the first match.
Among the other quarterfinalists are Bin Yusuf and A Morhan from Malaysia, seeded second and fifth respectively. Lima Ferreira from Brazil, seeded eighth, will be facing Korea’s Han Sung-Bong, who is seeded third.
