Colombo, Feb 19, 9.20PM – Sri Lankan wheelchair tennis players Suresh Dharmasena and Gamini Dissanayake achieved their third consecutive doubles title at the Negombo Open of the ITF UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour. The tournament, organized by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association, concluded in Negombo.
Dharmasena and Dissanayake, who previously won the Sri Lanka Open and Colombo Open, faced another Sri Lankan pair, Pradeep Kumara and WP Wijesiri, in the Negombo Open final. The match ended with Dharmasena and Dissanayake winning in straight sets with a scoreline of 6-2 and 6-3.
Among eight teams from five countries, including Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Brazil, Japan, India, and Korea, the final featured two Sri Lankan pairs.
In the singles final, Dharmasena secured another victory by beating Japan’s Tachi Tomoya with a scoreline of 6-4, 2-6, and 6-4. This marked Dharmasena’s third consecutive singles title in the series.
