COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – The 83rd Madras-Colombo Regatta, the oldest continuous rowing competition between India and Sri Lanka, will be held tomorrow from 1 PM at the Colombo Rowing Club (CRC), Beira Lake.
This historic event features 12 races: eight men’s events and four ladies’ events. The “Deepam Trophy” will be awarded to the overall men’s winners, while the “Adyar Trophy” will go to the overall women’s champions. The highlight, “The Boat Race Trophy,” will be given to the winners of the men’s senior fours.
In 2023, the CRC won the men’s overall category and the Deepam Trophy, along with “The Boat Race Trophy” with a score of 34-16. The Madras Boat Club secured the women’s category victory. Last year’s event was held at the Madras Boat Club in Chennai.
This year’s regatta promises thrilling competition, with rowers from both clubs vying for top honors. The event is expected to attract a large crowd, including dignitaries, sports fans, and club members.
The Colombo Rowing Club is proud to have the Indian CEO’s Forum, Lanka IOC, and Powertech Cement as principal sponsors.
