COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have secured the services of Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana for the IPL 2025 season, retaining him at a staggering price of INR 13 crore, equivalent to approximately SLR 452 million.
Pathirana, known for his distinctive slinging bowling action, has emerged as a key player for CSK since his debut in 2022. His ability to deliver yorkers and take crucial wickets has made him a vital asset for the team. Last season, he showcased his talent by consistently performing under pressure and contributing to important victories.
In his IPL career spanning 20 matches, Pathirana has bowled 451 balls, taking 34 wickets with an impressive average of 17.41 and an economy rate of 7.88.
In the 2024 season alone, he achieved remarkable statistics, claiming 13 wickets in just 6 matches, including a standout best bowling figure of 4/28. His average of 13.00 and strike rate of 10.15 demonstrate his ability to take wickets consistently and effectively. During the 2023 season, he also shone with 19 wickets in 12 matches.
