COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – Sri Lanka’s left-arm spin specialist, Lasith Embuldeniya, has been recalled to the national Test team after a year and a half absence. The 28-year-old will join the Sri Lankan squad for the upcoming two-match World Test Championship series against South Africa.
Embuldeniya, who last played for Sri Lanka in June 2022 during the Test against Australia in Galle, has had a three-year Test career. Over 17 Test matches, he has claimed 71 wickets at an average of 37, including five five-wicket hauls, with his best figures being 7/137 in an innings.
The spinner is part of the initial nine-member squad, which includes captain Dhananjaya de Silva, former captains Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, and Dimuth Karunaratne, along with fast bowlers Lahiru Kumara, Milan Ratnayake, Kasun Rajitha, and fellow spinner Nishan Peiris.
