COLOMBO, June 10 (ePRESS) – Pakistan will tour Sri Lanka for a six-match white-ball series in July and August, with the two teams set to battle for valuable points in the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-29 cycle at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota.

The series will feature three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), with all matches scheduled to be played at the same venue.

The ODI series carries added importance as it forms part of the ICC Women’s Championship, which determines qualification for future global tournaments. Pakistan currently occupy second place in the standings with eight points from six matches, having secured four victories.

Sri Lanka are close behind in third position with the same number of wins and points from six matches. However, Pakistan hold a significant advantage in net run rate, boasting 1.928 compared to Sri Lanka’s 0.226.

The three ODIs will be played on July 23, July 25 and July 28. The teams will then switch to the shorter format for the T20I series on July 31, August 2 and August 4.

The upcoming contest is expected to be a closely fought battle between two in-form Asian sides aiming to strengthen their positions in the ICC Women’s Championship table.

The tour is also likely to mark the first international assignment for both teams following the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England, which concludes on July 5.

With crucial championship points at stake and both teams level on victories, the Hambantota series is expected to play a significant role in shaping the early standings of the ICC Women’s Championship campaign.
