COLOMBO: (ePRESS) – ICC’s top-ranked Test side, Ausralia team will visit Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series and a one-off One Day International match from January 29 to February 13. Sri Lanka Cricket announced yesterday that the two Tests will take place in Galle, while the venue for the ODI is still to be confirmed.
Led by Dhananjaya de Silva, the Sri Lanka Test team is looking forward to the Galle matches as important challenges. They recently enjoyed success by beating New Zealand 2-0 last month.
The first Test is set for January 29 to February 2, with the second Test following from February 6 to 10. The ODI will be played on February 13 at a location that will be announced later.
So far this year, Sri Lanka has played eight Test matches, winning six and losing only one to England. In contrast, Australia currently sits at the top of the ICC Test rankings, while Sri Lanka is in fifth place, behind India, South Africa, and England, who hold second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
